Andy and I worked on this song for a while, over a couple of sittings, changing it almost completely, but retaining the original vision lyrically.
We ended up dropping a pretty catchy chorus, and opting for a more simple song, which we felt more suited the track.
While any attempt at understanding dementia from outside the condition is always going to fall short, hopefully we've caught something here that speaks to others.
LYRICS
I used to be a working man,
I found a trade, like all those boys,
who grew in to men, well most of them.
But now they're gone, and..
Their names won't come..
I used to be a drinking man,
Raise a glass, good health to all my friends.
I'm in their stories, they're in my songs.
I can still see their faces, but,
Their names won't come..
I still love you, but I don't know why,
With a once kissed cheek, and a tear in your eye,
I try to tell you how feel,
But the words come out wrong, and,.
Your name won't come.
